Larry P. Mason

A Trustee of Clark County School District since 1993, Larry P. Mason is a career educator of 32 years, all of which have been spent in higher education:  20 years have been in four-year institutions; and 12 in two-year institutions.   Mason is a passionate community activist for children and parents.  Mason has also been a careful fiscal steward in overseeing the Clark County School District’s $3 billion budget.  He has served twice as president, vice president, and clerk for the Board.  Mason is currently employed as the interim Vice-President, Office of Diversity and Cultural Affairs for the College of Southern Nevada.  Mason received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico.  Mason has been honored by the Latino community, receiving awards such as Hispanic of the Year, Educator of the Year, and Community Service Person of the Year, by the Latin Chamber of Commerce.  Mason has also been recognized as Senores of Excellence by the community at large and has been inducted in the Hispanic Basketball Hall of Fame by the Latino in Action Sports Association.
